Frequently Asked Questions

An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about Toon Boom software, animation development, pipeline and work experience. Because it is rare to get all the information collected into one space, I decided to make this space a central location for all my Q + A from fans.

This will be my 26th year. I professionally started after I graduated at Art Institute of Pittsburgh and did many various projects in different positions.

Learning animation takes time but you can start at Youtube now. Different then my time when we had to do everything by research via books, trial and error and experimentation. Today everything you need to know is now posted online. Which is great but it does not tell the complete process from start to end. (They are like snap shots in a production pipeline.)

I use software that is used at studios. Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro, Krita, Photoshop, Autograph (After Effects is being phased out) Inkscape, Blender (Autodesk is being phased out) Unreal, Open Toonz, Davinci Resolve and a whole bunch more! I think for any animator that is in training, it is best to learn both technique and then learn software, keep yourself refreshed on the latest techniques and tools.
